Citizens of the Suzerainverse,

As the new year dawns, we stand at the crossroads of time, engaging in a reflective and introspective dance. The 2023 year's journey has reached its culmination, and as the sun sets, it casts its final glow upon the days gone by. The moon, a silent witness to our collective endeavors, illuminates the twilight of our achievements, prompting us to ponder: what will remain in the fabric of time?

The commencement of the year isn't just a mark on the calendar; it's a transition—a threshold leading us into the unknown territories of new possibilities. We stand on the precipice of a new cycle, eager to craft our intentions, aspirations, and dreams for the year ahead.

Dear citizens, welcome to the final transmission of 2023!

In December, we celebrated the 3rd anniversary of Suzerain, filled with happiness and excitement. During that time, we announced the release date of the Kingdom of Rizia—scheduled to launch on March 25, 2024. We are pouring our hearts into this DLC, eager for everyone to experience the new adventures and stories it holds.

Initially, we planned to release the DLC before the end of 2023. However, we extended the development period to refine the new features and narratives. This decision ensured that we delivered higher-quality content.

For those who haven't added it to their wishlist yet, now is the perfect opportunity!

We also highlighted an engaging livestream session where we provided insights and conducted our usual Q&A session. This proved to be a good opportunity to delve deeper into the details of the upcoming DLC with our ever-growing community.

We're delighted to see the number of participants increasing with each session. If you missed the live, or if you'd like to revisit the discussion, we invite you to watch or re-watch the Live Stream down below.

December 2023 was a landmark month for us at Torpor Games, highlighted by the conclusion of our closed testing round. The insights gained are now fueling enhancements across the game. We are working on more content for the new narrative traits and roleplaying expressions, adding more depth to dialogue interactions. Efforts to make the game more accessible are also underway, with new tutorials designed to ease the learning curve for newcomers, especially with the new royal decrees and war mechanics.

On the creative side, we celebrated the completion of the Rizia Original Soundtrack, now available for wishlist, alongside significant progress in sound production for both the prologue and the main game. Our art team has been hard at work finalizing character portraits and refining our logos and silhouettes. Additionally, a major technical stride was made in optimizing the notification system, significantly boosting game performance. This will have a significant positive impact on the Sordland experience as well with the future update.

The late-game narrative design is being meticulously crafted to ensure a compelling conclusion to all storylines, while the integration of war mechanics with story elements is being enhanced for a more immersive experience. Work is continuing in seamlessly integrating the armed forces and training mechanics into the Rizia experience, extending their use beyond just the war path into the diplomatic path. The expansion of the Rizia codex is ongoing, adding further lore richness to the Suzerain Universe.

In last month's exciting development, we began localizing Suzerain base game into Chinese, a project led by Chengjun, a partner from the University of Adelaide, and supported by dozens of enthusiastic community volunteers. This step marks a significant advancement in making our game more accessible to a broader audience, laying the groundwork for future inclusive localization efforts to spread the value of Suzerain to the world. We're immensely grateful for the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. For those interested in being a part of this or future localization projects, we welcome you to join our dedicated channel on Discord. Your contributions can help bring this ambitious project to fruition!

In our community spotlight, we're excited to feature The Merkopan Game's latest mod for Hearts of Iron IV, which introduces Suzerain content. This creative project showcases the talent within our rapidly growing Suzerain Universe community. Fans of Hearts of Iron IV will find this mod adds an intriguing new layer to their gaming experience. Check out TMG's mod by clicking here and join in celebrating the innovative spirit of our community.

In December, we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves nominated for the prestigious Tech Awards Gala awards hosted by Sir Kai Wegner the Governing Mayor of the City of Berlin, specifically in the category of “Gaming & IoT”. Our studio had the honor of standing alongside notable contenders such as Atopia and Zaubar. Although we did not secure the award, the recognition itself holds significant meaning for us. It serves as compelling evidence of our studio's impact and value within our community, affirming our presence and contribution

Before we bring this broadcast to an end, we wanted to extend our gratitude once again to the talented winners of our October flag contest:

  • Confederacy of Yarktralis Flag Winner: Evenski

  • Federation of Anrakan Islands Flag Winner: Merely1man

Their winning flags will soon become a part of the game. Thank you for contributing to the success of this contest and let your creative spirit continue to flourish!

Confederacy of Yarktralis by Evenski & Federation of Anrakan Islands by Merely1man

And last but not least, we send heartfelt belated Holidays wishes from the entire Torpor Games team! May this season wrapped you in warmth, love, and the embraced of those dear to you. If you'd like to support us, consider adding the Kingdom of Rizia to your wishlist. Your kindness means the world to us.

Until the next update, take care!

Dear citizens of the Suzerainverse,

As we shift the clocks and embrace the winter hour, it's impossible to ignore the shadows that loom over our world due to recent events. Yet, in the face of these challenging times, we stand resilient, united, and committed to spreading the light of what we hold dear. Welcome to the October Broadcast.

We are writing this letter with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to fostering peace and humanity.

In response to the ongoing conflict involving Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, we at Torpor Games have donated 300 USD to support organizations providing crucial humanitarian aid in Gaza. Upholding the ideals of the United Nations Charter of Human Rights, we stand firmly against violence, apartheid, and oppression, emphasizing the sanctity of human life. Every life lost, whether Palestinian or Israeli, underscores our shared responsibility to advocate for peace and change.

For those willing to contribute, donations can be made through the following links:

Talking about peace, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Kimberly Marteau Emerson the Board of Directors at Human Rights Watch, had shared Ata's post about Torpor Games' mission. Torpor Games aims to create diverse forms of entertainment that broaden horizons, alter perspectives, and question morality in all aspects of the human experience.

We're thrilled to share some exciting developments from the Golden Kingdom, several departments have been progressing by leaps and bounds. This past October was a pivotal month, seeing us answer the last crucial game design questions and make significant strides in the game's development. We have added more than 50 royal decrees and are working on improving their implementation and impact on the narrative. We're proud to announce that our base Rizia map has reached its final form, and several new small cities have been added to enrich your gameplay experience. Our resource increment system is now finalized, with an updated UI that clearly shows turn-based additions and deductions, ensuring a more immersive and intuitive experience.

In the realm of narrative design, we've been sprinting through the late game, discussing and shaping the final outcomes and progression of key storylines. We're excited to see our war mechanic come to life, and we showcased it live on our social media channels on October 31st, marking a major milestone for Torpor Games. This was the culmination of six months of hard work, and it’s enriching to see all the pieces falling into place.

In addition to these developments, we've wrapped up music production and are putting the finishing touches on our final art portraits. Looking ahead, we're gearing up for our first round of closed testing, where we’ll be ironing out minor issues and fine-tuning the game's balance and analytics.

In October, we introduced a highly-anticipated and groundbreaking mechanic that many of you have been eagerly waiting for… the war mechanic. We took a deep dive during our livestream, revealing even more in-depth details.

We revealed a new dialogue with the Toras family before and we offered an exclusive sneak peek into the resource systems at your command, and the war system itself, promising a truly one-of-a-kind gaming experience that you won't want to miss. We're super happy to see the growing number of people joining us in our Livestreams, and your enthusiasm and support mean a lot to us.

Here are some numbers about our last Livestreaming:

  • The stream lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes.

  • The average number of viewers increased to 104.

  • Unique viewers reached 299.

  • Live views surged to 536.

  • Video content accumulated 2,245 views.

  • Total watch time reached 327 hours.

It's really motivating to have such an engaged community, and we want to express our warm thanks to all of you.

For those of you who missed out or want to relive the excitement, you can watch or rewatch the Livestream by clicking on the image below.

Beginning of November, Ata and Clementine had the chance to go to the beautiful city of Paris for the Game Connection.

This event was a great opportunity to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of the gaming industry. They could meet and network with influential individuals, exploring new game studios, each with its own unique vision and creative intelligence. They showcased one of our projects, 'The Conformist.' It's great to have physical events to be able to meet people and open our minds. It's moments like these that remind us of the boundless possibilities that the world of gaming has to offer.

Before we sign off, we've got a special treat for you – check out this fantastic fan art created by the talented VonLipvig! We're impressed by your creativity, and we absolutely love seeing your awesome art.

Citizens of the Suzerainverse,

As leaves start to change and the political landscape shifts, we're here to keep you updated on all the developments in Torpor Games. Embrace the crisp air and orange trees, dear citizens, the September Broadcast has arrived!

The past month has been an exciting journey for our team, culminating in the wrapping up of the final design elements for Rizia and paving the way for substantial iterations of our innovative mechanics, with "Royal Decrees" and the Suzerain to the Kingdom of Rizia DLC save transfer design reveal taking the spotlight.

September also offered us avenues to expand our perspectives through various external engagements. Our presence at the Blon Animation and Games Festival not only allowed us to connect with ardent Suzerain fans but also infused us with fresh energy and feedback, propelling our developmental endeavors further.

Moreover, engaging with government officials at a conference in Rome opened up enlightening discussions about the broader potentials and implications of our game, exploring its aptitude to navigate the complexities of political and societal simulations.

In a pivotal moment, our first Rizia livestream was unveiled in September, providing a sneak peek into the game’s introductory segments and our new innovative mechanic, the Royal Decrees. The overwhelmingly positive reception of the Rizia OST and the freshly revealed character art during the live stream has greatly boosted our team. As we plunge into the final sprints for our music and art pipelines, we're weaving together the visual and auditory elements that promise to immerse players into our meticulously crafted DLC.

To catch the Livestream Rizia Q&A, click here.

A heartfelt welcome is extended to our newest team member Laurence, who has seamlessly integrated into our team, contributing towards pushing the new mechanic to completion. As we navigate through finalizing storylines and refining existing content, your steadfast support and belief in our crafted universe fortify our resolve. The convergence of strategy, narrative, and player agency into a compelling experience is unfolding, and we eagerly anticipate sharing the evolving tapestry of Rizia with you in the subsequent months.

We also have news in our gaming community this month! As a company deeply committed to creating a welcoming and secure environment for all, we've taken a step forward by selecting new moderators who share our values and vision.

In our pursuit of making our community an even better place, we initiated a survey to identify individuals who could be entrusted with this important role. After thorough examination and consideration, we're thrilled to introduce you to our new deputy moderators, who will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and warmth of our community.

These moderators come from diverse backgrounds, hailing from various parts of the globe. We've strategically chosen moderators residing in America, Europe, and Asia to ensure we have nearly round-the-clock coverage across different time zones.

So, let's extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to our new deputy moderators:

  • ames8301 - America

  • farmerjoe3 - Asia

  • marrum - Europe

They all have demonstrated their commitment to our community's values, and we're excited to have them on board as we continue to grow and foster a culture of exchange, care, and friendship within our world. And stay tuned, these new deputies will hold a Q&A on Discord next Monday, 16th of October.

Now. Let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible creativity within our community! In September, we wanted to add more depth and richness to our universe and organized a flag contest for our two new countries, Confederacy of Yarktralis and Federation of Anrakan Isles.

We reached out to our talented community members, inviting them to design flags representing the spirit and identity of these new nations. The response was really good, with a lot of stunning propositions.

After careful deliberation with our team, we have identified the top four flag designs for each of these new countries. We cordially invite you to participate in the final voting phase through our designated channels.

Cast your vote for your favorite flag design in each country now! React to the flag you want to vote for in the respective channels:

You can also click HERE to vote for you favorite flag!

We will announce the winner in 7 days. The winning flag designs will become a part of our game's world. Winners will also join the "Artist of Sordland" Discord role community. Your talent will be celebrated and shared with fellow artists and fans.

Dear citizens of the Suzerainverse,

In the midst of a sun-kissed landscape and the embrace of summer's gentle breeze, we extend a heartfelt welcome to every one of you. As devoted citizens, you are cordially invited to the fresh August Broadcast!

At Torpor Games, we are happy to bring you a glimpse of what's in store as we prepare to launch our much-anticipated premium DLC, "The Kingdom of Rizia," at the end of this year.

Our Vision:
Dive deeper into the intricacies of the Suzerain Universe, offering players an entirely new lens to understand and reshape the world through the eyes of King Romus Toras of Rizia. Our vision is to expand the narrative horizons of the Suzerain experience, providing a fresh yet familiar tapestry of political intrigue, diplomacy, and choices that mold a nation. Through Rizia, we aspire to craft multifaceted endings, each one a testament to the diversity of choices and paths available within this experience. Our focus remains unwavering: to generate political narratives that pivot around nations and their leaders at potentially transformative moments in the Suzerain Universe's history.

Our Mission:
Our mission with The Kingdom of Rizia DLC is multi-fold:

  • To provide players with a nuanced experience that stands distinct from the base game of Suzerain, offering both familiarity and newness in the Rizian storyline.

  • Prioritize geopolitics and diplomacy as the focal points of the gameplay, weaving secondary narratives around the inner workings and challenges of the Rizian nation.

  • Explore topics, decisions, and storytelling avenues we yearned to introduce in Suzerain, pushing the boundaries of our narrative design in novel directions.

  • Acknowledging our journey, the Rizia DLC has been crafted over 1.5 years – a more compact timeline compared to Suzerain's 4.5-year development. Thus, while the game offers a condensed experience, it bursts with unique storylines and perspectives that are distinct from our initial offering.

  • Embrace a multi-ending approach, empowering players to express and navigate their story within the set boundaries of the Rizia experience.

  • The Kingdom of Rizia is not just an addition to our universe; it's a critical pillar in our 2. x strategy for Suzerain. Its reception and impact will significantly shape our future endeavors in this universe.

  • Post-launch, we pledge to offer dedicated support to Rizia, ensuring the gameplay remains dynamic and engaging.

  • Lastly, our tales in Rizia and Sordland are loosely connected. Stay tuned for upcoming insights on how these narratives echo, contrast, and coalesce in our ever-expanding Suzerain Universe.

With The Kingdom of Rizia DLC, we invite you on a journey to rule, decide, and leave an indelible mark on the pages of history. Together, let's discover the destiny of Rizia.

We stand humbled and delighted as we reflect upon the journey of Suzerain 2.0 "Amendment" update since its recent release. In only two weeks, the warmth of your response has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we're thrilled to share some statistics with you:

In the two weeks following the launch of 2.0:

Over 50,000 players embarked: With gratitude, we thank the 50,000+ players who've embraced Suzerain 2.0. We are grateful for the demonstration of your support and curiosity.

Web of connectivity: Our website witnessed 20k visits, and our codex got 135k clicks, spreading our vision far and wide.

Thriving communities: Our digital communities have flourished! Our Reddit community has blossomed to 10k members, while our Discord server boasts an active 4.2k members, sparking vibrant and engaging discussions.

Gateway to exploration: Our Steam page welcomed an astounding 2 million visitors, with nearly 70% of them discovering Torpor Games for the first time.

Resonating voices: The heartwarming echo of your voices resonates in the form of nearly 5,000 Steam positive reviews (and around 300 negatives). It provided invaluable insights for our ongoing journey.

A tale of dedication: While we came close to breaking the concurrent player record set at launch in 2020 (1090 players), your dedication shines brightly. For 2.0, 1058 players united in Suzerain's world at the same time. We also had a total of 4743 players on August 1st, 2023, against 3760 on December 8th, 2020, an achievement we celebrate together.

Continued support: We're thrilled to announce that our Vulpitzer item has been purchased 1400 times! This significant milestone energizes us to further enhance our offerings.

With gratitude, we thank each of you who have contributed to this success. Your support nourishes our commitment to constant improvement, ensuring Suzerain's continued excellence.

A warm welcome to our "Vulpitzer Award." This unique item is available and it's something we're incredibly excited about.

By acquiring the "Vulpitzer Award," you do more than just enhance your virtual space. It’s the best way to support all the work that goes on behind the scenes. It is helping us to continue delivering high-quality updates, engaging narratives, and immersive gameplay in the future.

We deeply appreciate your ongoing support, and it's thanks to players like you that we can keep pushing our limits in the game creation journey. So, if you're eager about what Torpor Games has in store for the future and want to play a part in making it happen, the "Vulpitzer Award" is a beautiful way to do that.

As you know, our highly anticipated premium DLC, "Kingdom Of Rizia," will make its grand entrance at the end of the year.

Get ready to dive into the realm of Rizia where a new nation awaits your reign. Step into the shoes of King Romus, with new challenges to conquer and captivating stories, "Kingdom Of Rizia" promises to be an unforgettable addition to your political gaming experience. Please note that the Kingdom of Rizia DLC will offer a shorter gameplay experience than Suzerain, due to the nature of DLCs and shorter development timelines. We aspire to develop additional DLCs following Rizia, and we're already in the process of conceptualizing the next one.

On the week of the 18th of September, we will be part of the Fellow Traveller Publisher Sales and we will stream some early footage from Rizia, Don't miss it! (more info will come soon)

Make sure to wishlist "Kingdom Of Rizia" now, and be among the first to embark on this exciting new chapter.

In August, we had the chance to team up for a video with the great Kaiser Cat Cinema channel. From day one, we felt connected to their work, and we are delighted to do this collaboration. Their content, animations, and voice-over have always stood out, and we're honored to join forces with them. Also, some of our developers played the mod Kaiserreich. It hasn't only added depth to our team's creative journey but also aligned with our passion for innovative narratives.

You can watch the video here.

We did a team picture for the occasion :)

This month, our team members, Ata, Ilke, and Ozgun, had the opportunity to attend the renowned Gamescom event in Cologne. They went deep into the world of gaming, meeting industry professionals, showcasing Torpor Games, and discovering exciting new titles. The experience at Gamescom was precious, we learned a lot, and we're thrilled to have been a part of such a vibrant gaming community.

Speaking of new countries..., dear citizens... We're excited to announce a unique opportunity for you to directly influence our game's world. Introducing the Flag Contest for the Confederacy of Yarktralis and the Federation of Anrakan Isles!

Here's how it works:

  • Explore the stories and backgrounds of these two new countries by following the links: Confederacy of Yarktralis and Federation of Anrakan Isles

  • Dive into your creative spirit and design a flag that carries the essence of each nation.

  • Upload your creations on our Discord fan art channel before the October 5th deadline.

Remember to save your Vector source files, as we need them to incorporate your flags into the game after the contest ends.

    And after that:

  • Our team will assess all submissions and select the top 5 flags for each country.

  • These chosen designs will be posted on a new Discord channel (yarktralis-flagcontest, anraka-flagcontest) and you will be able to see them.

  • Every reaction your designs receive – will be counted as a vote for your favorite flag.

  • We will announce the winner about one month later, in the October Broadcast.

  • The winning flag designs will become a part of our game's world. Winners will also join the "Artist of Sordland" Discord role community. Your talent will be celebrated and shared with fellow artists and fans.

Citizens of Sordland, welcome to the June broadcast! As the warmth of summer spreads like a golden wave on our great nation, we extend our heartfelt greetings to each and every one of you.

Today, we gather to share an overview of the most thrilling updates that have unfolded within our borders over the course of this month.

As we approach the final stretch of the Suzerain 2.0 update, our team is working tirelessly to improve every aspect of the game. We've conducted rigorous internal testing, and we're now in the process of adding the finishing touches, including controller support. One of our primary focuses has been refining the in-game feedback, ensuring that each action you take has clearer results and consequences.

We're also infusing new life into the game with additional decisions and bills, such as those relating to the Bergia Special Zone and the Bludish rights situation in Sordland. These added layers of complexity are designed to make your experience more immersive and dynamic. Alongside these additions, we're experimenting with text animations to further enhance the game's narrative flow and create an element of surprise.

Visually, we've completed the 3D art pipeline for the 2.0 update, and on the audio front, we're excited to see our personal voice recording sessions add an extra layer of depth to the game. We're also exploring analytics design to help balance the game for 2.0 and the future, ensuring each of the 450+ key choices offers a meaningful and balanced gaming experience.

Finally, we've initiated our closed community testing phase, which will continue until the 2.0 release. The feedback of the community testers who have been with us since 2019, is invaluable during this phase and will guide our fine-tuning process to make sure Suzerain 2.0 is the best it can be. Keep an eye out for some exciting news we have to share in July!

We are excited to share our latest contributions to environmental conservation through tree-planting initiatives. In the month of June, we donated 400 Euros towards planting trees in Ethiopia, furthering our commitment to combat deforestation and restore precious ecosystems in this beautiful country. Additionally, we are proud to continue our support for reforestation in Colombia by donating 200 Euros. This follows our previous contribution towards tree planting in the esteemed Sierra de la Macarena National Park.

Last year, we partnered with Torpor Games and made a meaningful impact in the Sierra de la Macarena National Park through our donation. To witness the positive outcomes of our collective efforts, we invite you to explore the progress made in the park through the following link.

Here is an exciting update from our journey with the Torpor Games Team. Just a few weeks ago, we had the great opportunity to come together for a recording session, initiated by James Spence, our esteemed official music composer.

During the session, we recorded different voices that you will soon have the pleasure of experiencing in the upcoming Suzerain 2.0 "Amendment" Update. We are excited to hear our voices recorded for special moments that will add an extra layer of depth to the game. But that's not all! We also had the privilege of recording the National Sordland Anthem, a piece that captures the essence of our great nation.

We are delighted to share exciting news from Ata, who had the privilege of participating in a prestigious panel. This discussion provided him with a platform to share his vision with industry professionals.

The conference was funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and the Digital Games Culture Foundation. Ata was honored to be a part of this event, which is part of the Foreign Policy Game project we are actively involved in. The project focuses on creativity and the exploration of games' potential in various realms.

Ata shared some important topics during the conference about the games' role in relaying foreign policy, world peace, and facilitating public diplomacy. His statement highlighted the transformative power of games as a medium for fostering understanding, engagement, and dialogue on global issues.

“Video games, as an art form capable of engaging with an array of subjects, have carved their place on the national stage. Now more than ever, this immersive medium is delving deeper into real-world political discussions. I highlighted how games can uniquely portray foreign policy choices from a myriad of viewpoints, even providing players with an understanding of the experiences of those impacted. Such openness facilitates a better world - one where the principles of democracy and human rights aren't simply expectations dictated by the "West" for the "East". Instead, they're integral parts of a world where human experiences take center stage and games serve as digital mirrors reflecting these experiences.

These gaming experiences hold the potential to bridge national, cultural, economic, and societal divides, connecting us through shared human experiences that lie at the very heart of our existence. Our studio remains dedicated to provoking nuanced reflections on politics, society, and, paramountly, the human condition in power dynamics. Through the dissection of ideologies, choices, and complex game mechanics, we aim to ignite meta-perspective debates and cultivate empathy for individuals facing challenging circumstances.”

Citizens of Sordland! Our May Broadcast has arrived, carrying the seeds of fresh starts and boundless opportunities. As the days grow longer and the temperatures rise, it's the moment to embrace the vibrant spirit of the season. It's time to shine, and we're thrilled to share the latest news and updates from our Torpor Games team.

We have been swamped working on new content and features over April and May. Finally, after the announcement, we can more openly speak about the 2.0 "Amendment" update and the Kingdom of Rizia DLC. After so long, we are so excited to co-publish and do more with Suzerain.

We have recently been working on the new features and content additions for 2.0, making new budget-balancing passes, adding new sound effects and music, updating several parts of the game with recent narrative changes such as updates to Arcasia, United Contana, Valgsland, and more, and adding more world events to the experience. We have finally changed the economy bar to the intended design it was supposed to represent, the economy's growth, not the economy itself.

The new content work regarding 2.0 is in full swing, with further refinements and additions making their way into the game, such as a more detailed Bludish rights and unrest storyline. We are also expanding and changing certain parts of the Constitutional Amendment.

Additionally, new security alliance reports from ATO and CSP are being added to the world map to share updates from the alliances. We won't spoil further and hope you like the changes when they land in your hands this summer! Expect more development news from Rizia after the 2.0 update launches.

For now, what we can share is that we are working on offering a different yet familiar experience with new features, challenges, and narrative topics.

We're thrilled to announce that on the week of Charles III and Camilla coronation (May 4th), we unveiled our latest secret projects: the highly anticipated Kingdom of Rizia premium DLC and Suzerain 2.0 “Amendment” update.

The update will be released this summer. It offers a complete overhaul of Suzerain, with new dialogues, choices, consequences, improved visuals, UI, world map integration, and interactions. It caters to both new and experienced players, enhancing every aspect of the game with audiovisual improvements, bug fixes, writing enhancements, and more.

The 2.0 "Amendment" Update will be available on PC only initially, with Torpor Games hoping to bring them to Switch and iOS/Android at a later date.

We couldn't be more delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response this news has received so far. We've been featured in several magazines, which you can read here:

We're also happy to report that our journey has gotten off to an incredible start. We've already had over 6500 of you add Kingdom of Rizia premium DLC to your wishlist, and we're incredibly grateful for your support.

We can't wait for you to experience the new features and content we have in store for you. If you haven’t done it yet:

To help spread the news even further, we also recently held a Q&A session where we answered some of your most burning questions about these exciting developments.

And wow! Some of our community members have gone above and beyond to support us. They've written a high-quality transcription of the Q&A session, which you can find at the link below.

We're incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication, and it's heartening to see how much support we have from all of you.

The beginning of May was for us full of high notes. Indeed, we participated in the annual LudoNarraCon sale, which was hosted by our dear publisher Fellow Traveller.

This festival celebrated narrative-driven games and offered a wonderful opportunity to explore some of the most engaging and immersive storytelling experiences out there.

We were thrilled to be a part of this event and to offer our fans a great deal of 70% off on Suzerain. Whether you were a fan of political dramas or enjoyed thought-provoking narratives, there was something for everyone in the lineup.

Summer is here, and that means the festival season has arrived! The Torpor Games team kicked off the season this year by going to A MAZE. / Berlin 2023. Our team was excited to discover other indie studios and to gather in a great location in the heart of the city.

It was a good opportunity for us to talk about our latest projects, network with fellow creators, and engage with fans of indie gaming.

Connecting with people from the scene reminded us how much we truly love it. It was a fantastic experience, and we came back feeling inspired and energised to continue creating innovative and engaging content for our community.

As we bring this broadcast to an end, we want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for your support. It's thanks to you that Torpor Games is expanding and thriving.

MARCH 2023 BROADCAST

Citizens of Sordland, welcome to our March broadcast. As the flowers begin to bloom and the light breaks through, we're excited to share with you the latest news and updates from our Torpor Games team.

Our team has been working hard on delivering the best Suzerain experience for you throughout March. Further developments were made in the Amendment and Toras projects which we have been teasingly talking and hinting about recently.

We have made a massive re-arrangement of the narrative design of Project Toras to improve the flow and spread content with a balance while analyzing weaknesses. Certain finished elements are receiving second passes. More design work is being conducted to determine the remainder of the storylines, the steps inside them, and the final outcomes.

Additionally, new music was added to the existing experience to ensure the mood clicked with the intended design well. The team also made substantial progress on the paper prototype for a new system being built. We are excited to experiment with gameplay systems of a more open nature after a long time in written deterministic content development.

We have noticed that certain content concepts and goals for Amendment were more complicated than anticipated after we began designing them. The production realities showed that building on complexity takes much longer than adding a new element or a supportive pillar. We are keen on attempting these brave overhauls but will slot them correctly in the future.

Therefore we decided to focus on a few content cores to the Amendment project and reduced specific goals that strayed away from the target vision of the update. The community polls heavily assisted in our decision-making. We always prefer quality as much as possible when choosing between quality and quantity.

We appreciate your patience, and we're excited to say that the wait will soon be over. Down below, you can find an exclusive sneak peek of the mesmerizing music from our upcoming project, Toras. The piece is composed by the talented James Spence, whose exceptional artistry has breathed life into our game.

Now some news about our devs Anett and Ioannis, the lucky participants in the gamedev camp in the Coconat campus in Brandenburg. During the four weeks, they mainly focused on the world-building visualization as well as experimental game systems design.

Anett shared her positive experience of the Rabbit camp: "I'm very happy to have been part of this experience! I have made great connections and amazing friendships! It’s a very good space to concentrate, get work done but also to relax and do great activities such as hiking, bouldering, and even ice bathing :)"

Overall, the game dev camp provided Anett and Ioannis with a unique and enriching experience to further their knowledge and skills in game development and design.

A warm welcome to Clémentine that has joined our team as the new Community Manager. She will help us communicate the latest updates on our two projects, and also be spearheading our company's overall communication strategy.

"I have previously worked with the Philharmonie de Paris, several French startups, and 20th Fox. As I embark on this new adventure with the team, I am thrilled to bring my diverse experience and skillset to the table. I am dedicated to contributing to the growth of this project, I immediately recognized a shared vision with Torpor Games. The values and message of the game and the company are inspiring."

Furthermore, we regret to inform you that there won't be an April broadcast in early May, but don't worry - we'll have some other exciting news to share with you instead!

We also want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated in the surveys from our February broadcast. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable, and we appreciate the time and effort you took to share your thoughts with us. Your feedback helps us improve our projects and ensure we're delivering the best experience possible.

For those who haven't yet filled out the survey, we encourage to do so! Your input is precious and helps us shape the future of our projects and ensures that we're meeting your needs and expectations.

Last but not least, like puzzle pieces that interlock to form a beautiful image, our community has come together to create something truly amazing. We're grateful to have such a passionate and dedicated group of individuals by our side. Thank you for making this journey so rewarding!

FEBRUARY 2023 BROADCAST

Citizens of Sordland, welcome to the February broadcast covering the latest developments from the Torpor Games team and some teases about the future. We will start with a more serious subject, though.

After the tragic earthquake incident in Turkey and Syria, Torpor Games donated to help the rescue efforts. We shared donation links in our socials to drive further support to the earthquake-struck regions.

If you want to support the survivors as well, here are some trusted sources to donate to:

Thank you for your solidarity and empathy.

In February, Suzerain got viral in Japan, which led to a collection of tweets reaching 1.4 million+ impressions, coverage at a top digital news site, and now several let's play streams and videos. We are super happy and welcome the new community members! いらっしゃいませ

Coincidentally, our merch store sticker sheet includes a Japanese version of the company logo. You can check out the merch item here.

A player was spotted on social media with a feline cabinet advisor called Tommy. We are happy that the animal kingdom is also intrigued by the politics of Sordland.

February was very focused on increasing the development pace of Project Amendment and Toras. The development team has made substantial progress in the art department, completing several core asset tasks. Most of the base UI and UX work has reached the final stage, with only a handful of core tasks remaining. A technical sprint for highlighting, selection, and 3D animations was concluded successfully.

There were a lot of narrative design meetings and developments, with several new elements established to improve the experience of both Amendment and Toras. Audio work also has seen solid progress and is on track with the overall production requirements of both projects. A significant scene and camera blocker were removed after extensive design discussions on how to find the best implementation.

Project Toras reached the prototype stage, slowly reflecting content production in the internal test builds. We are happy with the early results, even though most of the added content is at the draft stage. Next up is the experimental work regarding a new feature. The team will create a paper prototype first before attempting a technical test. The team also started improving debugging, updating the data structure for a feature and working on the game flow.

Two of our team members got accepted to a game dev camp in Brandenburg in March. Here are the selected devs who are going. One of our freelancers will be coming from Thessaloniki, Greece, to attend the program. We will give you an update on how it went next time!

Torpor Games has a specially close relationship with the community, and the company's strategy is often informed through the feedback and comments of the player base. Therefore, we wanted to engage with the community again to understand where players stand on specific subjects. As developers, we will always make the decisions we are comfortable with, given the resources and our creative vision.

Still, our choices are always so much better with the input of the community included. This balanced collaboration between developer independence and community feedback is something special we want to continue building and fostering.

Therefore, we have prepared two surveys for you to fill out.

Thank you, as always, for your constant dedication and interest in our journey. Without you, this universe wouldn't be growing. Each time we see your passion, it fuels our drive to keep pushing the quality of what we can achieve to give you extraordinary game experiences.

We'll be waiting for you in the next broadcast in early April.

JANUARY 2023 BROADCAST

Citizens of Sordland! We have started the new year very strong and we hope that you have too. These are the latest news from the Torpor team:

It's been just over 6 weeks since we launched Suzerain on Android and iOS and we couldn't be more proud of how the results are looking with currently over 220,000 installs on both platforms combined.

We have also just released the 1.0.3 patch for mobile, which adds achievements, location-based pricing displayed before billing section, and fixed some bugs such as an issue with the close button for the newspaper tab or adding a missing Bergia Special Zone Presidential decree, among other things.

Aside from the mobile launch, we have been working hard at progressing on Project Amendment and Project Toras for Suzerain, the two secret projects we revealed during the State of Torpor Games Livestream. Production has been in full swing and new content is being delivered weekly across several disciplines. We recently concluded our first internal early builds and looked forward to the next ones.

We have analyzed and identified where to develop content in the last months. Currently we are moving forward to address several issues we have always wanted to address, such as missing context, story, and revisions to existing content in Suzerain. There have also been some lore revisions as some of what exists in Suzerain feels inconsistent with the initial design intentions of our worldbuilding.

Our new art pipelines have delivered significant assets to visualize and make our game experience more beautiful. We are looking at innovative ways to increase the impact of the setting and story on the player. More work has gone into the existing assets with re-models and completely new additions. Our goal is to significantly increase the visual quality.

New audio work, such as music and sounds, continues to be created. New dynamic music systems and a new start-up music sequence are being experimented on. We will expand more on this in the upcoming months.

We are also proud that the announcement of The Conformist was recently picked by renowned press such as Rock, Paper, Shotgun:

On some other great news, we have surpassed 6.5k Presidents on the r/suzerain subreddit. Come join us.

Last month we revealed the 1954 extended map of the Antacean. You can now purchase it on our merch store, as well as the 1836 map which was revealed a few months ago. Note that these map prints are larger in size than the original Sordland map. Use the code ANTACEAN at checkout for a 10% discount until February 10th. This code is valid for all items in the merch store.

Finally, with Valentine's Day around the corner, we wanted to make sure you all had a way to let your favourite humans know how much you care, which is why we have also added these postcards to our merch store.
With love, your Torpor Games team.

This is it for now! See you next month. Vectern sis da!
